CSI: Exploring Maui

Viime päivinä olen työstänyt useampaa sivua, mutta minulla on ollut suuria ongelmia niiden kanssa. Mikään ei ole tuntunut toimiva ja aloitin koko ajan vaan alusta uudestaan. Tänä aamuna sain (vihdoin) jotain kuitenkin valmiiksi.

For few days I have been working with several layouts and I have had huge problems with those. Nothing seemed to work. This morgning I was finally able to finish something.

Tällä viikolla CSI-haasteessa oli mukana luonnos, joka oli todella haastava minulle. Tein siitä kuitenkin oman versioni. Sivun tausta on tehty paperisuikaileilla, gessolla, gelatoseilla ja tekstuuripastalla. Ja eihän sivu olisi minun, jos siinä ei olisi maaliroiskeita :) Halusin korostaa luonnoksessa ollutta pystyraitaa, koska se sopi mielestäni hyvin vesiputouskuvaani. Perhoset on leikattu gelatoseilla värjätystä paperista, joka itseasiassa oli ensimmäinen taustapaperiyritykseni tähän haasteeseen.

This week the sketch in CSI was really challenging for me. But I made my own version of it. The background is made using paper strips, gelatos, gesso and modelling paste. And it wouldn't be my layout without paint splatters :) I wanted to emphasize the vertical stripe that was on the sketch as I thought it would suite my waterfall picture perfectly. The butterflies were cut from the paper I made with gelatos (the first background experiment for this challenge).

On the road

CSI:ssä julkaistiin elokuun alussa ensimmäinen haaste, joka on yhteistyössä Scrap365-lehden kanssa. Haasteen aihe oli täydellinen, sillä häämatkamme road trip -osiolta meillä on paljon kuvia. Tämä oli myös hyvä tilaisuus ottaa skräpättäväksi yksi kuva, jossa näkyy myös auto, jolla matkasimme tuhansia kilometrejä.

In the beginning of August the first CSI challenge together with Scrap365 was published. The subject of the challenge was perfect as we have so many pictures from the road trip part of our honeymoon. This was also a good opportunity to scrap one of the pictures where you can see the rental car.

Taustaa työstin taas tyypilliseen tapaan: akryylimaalia, leimoja, mistiä ja tottakai roiskeita. Roiskeiden määrä vaan tuntuu lisääntyvän sivuissani :) Koska kuvassa oli tilaa, päätin lisätä otsikon ja nuolet suoraan kuvaan. Tarinointi on kuvan takana olevassa pussissa, jonka tein leivinpaperista. Tarinointiin kirjasin ylös mm. matkareittimme.

I worked with the background once again: acrylic paint, stamping, mist and splashes (of course). The amount of splashes seems to be increasing in my layouts :) As there was room in the picture I added the title and the arrows directly to the picture. Journaling is in the self made envelope that I made from baking paper. The journaling includes e.g. the route that we drove.

CSI: Ready, set, GO!

CSI:ssä oli taas mukava haaste! Tämän viikon värit olivat minulle hieman haastavat, mutta tykkään todella lopputuloksesta. Sain viime viikolla ensimmäisen Scrap356 -lehteni ja lehdessä oli todella hieno Georgia Healdin tekemä tutoriaali taustan tekemisestä. taustassa käytettiin paperisuikaleita, gessoa ja leimoja. Halusin kokeilla tekniikkaa ja tässä tulos!

What a challenge again in CSI! These colors gave me a bit of hard time, but I'm really liking the outcome. I got my first issue of Scrap365 magazine last week and in that magazine there was a great background tutorial by Georgia Heald using strips of paper, gesso and stamping to create the background. I wanted to give it a try and here it is!

Tehdessäni otsikkoa, minulle sattui mukava vahinko. Leikkasin otsikon samasta kartongista kahdesti ja värjäsin toisen tummansinisellä gelatolla, koska en ollut varma kumpi väri sopisi paremmin sivuun. Kiinnitin tummansinisen otsikon sivuun ja se näytti hyvältä. Mutta sitten kun laitoin vaaleamma otsinko siihen päälle (hieman sivuun tummasta), lopputulos oli vielä parempi!

When I was making about the title I had a happy accident. I cut the title twice from the same cardstock and colored the other die-cut with dark blue gelato as I wasn't sure which one (the light or dark blue) would be better for the page. I adhered the dark blue down and it looked good. But when I placed the light blue version on top of it slightly off-centered it worked even better!

Sivu kertoo matkustamisesta. Joka kerta kun olemme lähdössä matkalle, otamme kuvan lentokoneessa ennen nousua. Tarinointi kertookin kuinka tämä hetki on yksi matkan parhaista: sillä hetkellä loma on edessä ja uusi mielenkiintoinen kohde on vain lentomatkan päässä.

On this page I documented a journey. Every time when we are going on holiday we take a picture of us on the plane before the take-off. The journaling tells that this is one of the best moments on a trip as everything is ahead of us and we are just a plane ride away from some new exciting place.
