Paper Camellia December reveal

Yesterday was a reveal day at Paper Camellia! The December kits are so beautiful, a great mix of products! See the full reveal here!

Here's my layout for the reveal. I used mainly the scrapbook kit and mixed products from Maggie Holmes and Amy Tangerine.

Cute - a layout with a lot of word stickers

Yesterday was my turn at Paper Camellia's blog. This time I shared a layout where I used a lot of the word stickers and die cut phrases as my main embellishments.

I started this layout by adhering the photo and the ”sweet” sticker to the white cardstock. At that point I didn’t have a specific idea how this layout will turnout. I added some paper strips from pattern paper to fill some of the empty space. I lined all the word stickers and die cut phrases to emphasizes the horizontal lines of the paper strips.

Love - layout with Paper Camellia's September kit

Paper Camellia's September reveal was postponed a bit because of family emergency and I haven't yet got a chance to show you the layout I made for the reveal! This month the kit is full of lovely products from Crate Paper and Fancy Pants! Check out the beautiful kits here.

Here is my layout for the reveal. Quite a simple layout with a bit different colors that I usually use...

Sunset - layout with Paper Camellia's September sketch

Do you know that Paper Camellia has a sketch challenge every month? I really loved the sketch this month and making a layout with it was so easy! Check out the sketch here.

I love how the gold and wood patterns go so well together! It really complements my photo.

As the patterns are quite bold I kept the embellishments to the minimum.

Summer - a layout were I went overboard with embellishments

Ok, I admit, I went a bit overboard with embellishments on this one! But those chipboard elements were so cool! And even though I used a lot of them in this layout, I have so much left!

The only pieces of patterned paper in this layout are the two cut-out flowers from the fancy Pants Designs paper. Everything else is either chipboard, stickers or other embellishments.

Too much embellishments or just enough? :)

Sweet - layout with Paper Camellia's August kits

Here is another layout I created with Paper Camellia's August kits. I love the triangle paper from Pinkfresh Studio and decided to cut some of the triangles out of it.

I used the triangles to guide the focus to the photo and main cluster. As the colors are quite light and pastel, I added a black title to bring contrast. How cool those black glitter foam words are that were in the embellishment add-on!

Remember this - layout with Paper Camellia's August kit

The starting point of this layout was that cute rubber tag from Pinkfresh Studio that was included in the Paper Camellia's August Embellishment Add-on. I literally started to create the layout around it!

I like the simplicity of a grid layout. Few strips of paper, cute embellishments and a picture: that’s it! Paper Camellia’s kits makes creating so easy!

If you look at the grid closer, you can find some structure in it. There are two diagonal lines. The line going from top left corner to the right bottom corner is mainly made out of pattern paper. The other diagonal line from left bottom corner to right top corner includes all the embellishments. I think these lines help to guide the eye through the layout.

Journey

When I was going through the papers from the Paper Camellia's July main scrapbook kit I just loved the look of the ”Tribal” paper from Crate Paper. In fact I loved it so much that I instantly started thinking about how I could get the most out of this paper so that I can use it in several layouts. My solution was to cut the paper and create a similar pattern to a white cardstock.

As the pattern was so bold I tried to be practical with the embellishments. I added majority of the embellishments near the picture and title. I also added few chipboard feathers tone on tone with the papers.

BDay dinner

Today I want to show you a layout I made with the Paper Camellia's July main scrapbook kit. I love how this kit encouraged me to use colors that I don’t normally use that much, like bold red and blue. These colors went so well together with the picture I took of my birthday dinner (and btw, the dinner was awesome! If you are in Helsinki, check the restaurant called "Sandro"!)

In this layout I cut the paper quite a bit! I did some fussy cutting to get out those pretty flowers from the My Mind’s Eye’s Discovery paper. On the other hand I was really inspired by the other side of the paper and decided to cut out some shapes from there too. This was a great way to use both sides of the paper!

I added some wood veneers and enamel dots to my embellishment clusters.

I really love how this layout turned out! Clearly I need to try some new color combinations more often!

Paper Camellia: Travel log

Here is my last layout with Paper Camellia's June kit. A bit unusual layout for me, don't you think? A lot of journaling and 10 pictures!

The inspiration for this layout came from the Dear Lizzy Fine & Dandy Number paper clips that were included in the Paper Camellia's June Embellishment add-on kit. I wanted to create a list of some sort and as I’m eagerly waiting for our next vacation I decided to create a travel log of our recent trips.

Behind the paper clips I layered circles that were cut from the Pink Paislee’s patterned paper. As I wanted the journaling to be the main focus of this layout I created a banner from the pictures. This way I was able to include all my favorite travel photos to one layout.

What is your record when it comes to number of pictures in one layout? 10 pictures is it for me!

Paper Camellia: Lovely life

If I’m being totally honest I had hard time with this layout. The basic components (papers, title and photo) were easy to put together but adding the embellishments was tricky! The papers and title I chose were so monocromatic that I didn’t know right away what embellishments to add. And then the ”Here’s the story” paper from Chickaniddy Crafts came to rescue! Adding the paper strips with short sentiments just brought the whole layout together!

Here is the Paper Camellia's June sketch:

Using frames as a main design element

I love using frames in my layouts. It’s just an easy way to bring shape and interest to a page!

In this layout I used the frames from Pink Paislee as my main design element. There were four frames included in the Paper Camellia's main scrapbook kit’s chipboard sticker pack and I used them all in this layout. As you can see, there seems to be more frames than four: the trick is to cut some of the frames and place them to the edge of the paper.
