I don't make cards often but when I do I do them in batches. It's easy to make multiple cards while you have all your supplies on hand. Here are 5 cards that I made with Maggie Holmes' Shine collection that I got from Scrapbook Werkstatt

I don't consider myself as a card maker but these cards came together so easily! I actually tried to incorporate some of the things that I normally use in my layouts to these cards. Both of these cards have white space (and white cardstock) and mist splatters. As I don't make cards that often I found it easy to go with my go-to techniques.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's day my friend! 

This Valentine's day I wanted to remember my family and friends with these cute tags. Tags are fun to make! They can be used as cards or you can add them to a gift. You can even make a nice home decor banner out of them!

For these tags, I used the bits and pieces from Paper Camellia's February kit. These are super simple: just some papers layered, stickers and some stitching.

Card with triangles and color

The last couple of months have been really grey here in Finland. I miss colors and sun!

For my last post in Paperilla Magazine's blog I wanted to create a card using grey with brighter colors. I love how the colors really pop from that woodgrain background! I want to use triangles in my scrapbooking layouts too as I really like the modern and graphic look that they bring.

I have loved beeing a part of Paperilla Magazine's DT. It has been an amazing year working together with some awesome Finnish crafters. Thank you all <3

Mukavaa perjantaita! Tänään oli vuoroni Paperilla-lehden blogissa ja aiheenani oli esitellä tekniikkaa. Viime aikoina Faber-Castellin Gelatosit ovat nousseet askartelumaailman todelliseksi hittituotteeksi, joten ajattelinkin esitellä muutaman eri tavan käyttää noita kyseisiä väritikkuja/-puikkoja. Tein neljä erilaista korttipohjaa ja niiden tekotavat löydät ohjeineen Paperilla-lehden blogista, hyppää myös siis sinne!

It's Friday and start of the weekend! Today was my turn at the Paperilla magazine's blog and my topic was to show some technique. As Faber-Castell's Gelatos are so in right now I wanted to show some different ways to use those color sticks to create backgrounds for cards. I made 4 different backgrounds (the detailed instructions are at Paperilla's blog, which is only in Finnish).  Here I will share how the finished cards turned out!

Kaikissa korteissa yritin pitää koristelut ja paperikerrokset minimaalisina, jotta nuo pohjat tulisivat myös esille. Ensimmäiseen käytin tuota vesivärityyppisesti tehtyä pohjaa. Tästä kortista teinkin tuollaisen pikkuisen kortin, joka on vaikka mukava laittaa pienen lahjan mukaan. Toinen kortti, jossa oli Big Shotilla tehty kohokuviointi, on myös hyvin yksinkertainen, sillä kuvio tuossa taustassa on jo niin vahva.

The first pink card is very simple and small. On that card I have used Gelatos like watercolors. The second pink card has a dry embossed background which I colored with three different shades of red and pink. In both of these cards I wanted to keep the embellishments really simple so that the background shows through.

Kahdessa seuraavassa kortissa on samankaltainen tausta, mutta värin levitystapa on ollut erilainen. Ensimmäisessä sinisävyisessä kortissa on väriä levitetty sormella, jolloin väri pysyy vahvana. Jälkimäisessä kortissa levitys on taas tehty veden ja siveltimen kanssa, joten sävy on hieman haaleampi. Näihin kortteihin laitoin hieman kerroksellisuutta myös, mutta yksinkertaisella linjalla mentiin näissäkin.

The next two cards have similar backgrounds: heat embossed patterns and gelatos. Only difference is the way I have blended the colors. On the first of these card I have just blended the gelatos by using my finger. This way the color stays very vibrant. On the second card I used water and a brush to blend the colors and the outcome is lighter.
