CSI: Chocolate

Joskus minusta tuntuu, että tekemäni sivut ovat vähän vakavia. Tämä on toki käy, mutta välillä ihailen toisten blogeista töitä, joihin on onnistuttu luomaan hauska tunnelma. En ole varma onko tämä sivu hauska, mutta ainakin otsikko/lainaus on! :)

Sometimes I feel that my LO's can be a bit serious. And that's fine of course, but I really admire from week to week how some artists can really create a such a fun feel to their LO's. Well, I'm not sure if this page is "fun", but at least the quote is :)

Minulla oli hieman vaikeuksia sivun tekemisessä: en tiennyt mitä kuvaa käyttää, kuinka toteuttaisin sivun jne. Kun näin tuon lainauksen Pinterestissä, tiesin välittömästi mitä tehdä. Leikkasin tekstin Silhouetella ja käytin leikkauksen negatiivia maskina. Halusin pitää muun sivun yksinkertaisena, jotta teksti olisi pääosassa kuvan kanssa.

I have had a hard time making this page: I didn't know what photo to use, how I would make the page and so on. But when I saw that quote on Pinterest, I knew exactly what to do! I cut the quote with Silhouette and used the negative as a stencil. I wanted to keep the rest of the page quite simple to give room for the quote.

Sivun aihe onkin selvä: Suklaa! :) Ja minun tapauksessani vielä tarkemmin suklaakakku/suklaa fondant. Tuo ihana lämmin suklaakakku, jonka sisus on sulaa suklaata. Tämä on ehdoton lempiherkkuni! En oikeastaan syö karkkia, pulla tai muita kakkuja, mutta tämä herkku on jotain niin hyvää, että sanat loppuu kesken. Tarinointi on kuvan takana olevassa tagissä. Kuvan suklaa fondant on syöty New Yorkissa häämatkallamme.

I think it's obvious: this page is about chocholate! :) And in my case, chocolate cake/fondant. That delicios warm chocolate cake that has that melted chocholate inside. That's my ultimate favorite treat! I don't eat candy or other cakes, but this is something so good I don't even have words! The journaling is behind the photo in a tag. The chocholate fondant that is in the picture was eaten in New York on our honeymoon.

Once Upon a ...Sketch -haasteessa on elokuun teemana "I'll never forget" (en koskaan unohda). Valitsin aiheekseni hääkuvamme, jotka ovat vielä skräppäämättä. Aihe on ehkä hieman itsestäänselvä, mutta minulle hyvin tärkeä.

The journaling theme in Once Upon a ...Sketch was "I'll never forget". I chose our wedding day as my topic. That might be a bit obvious choice, but it's a day that I really don't forget.

Tykkäsin haasteen luonnoksesta, jossa oli asetettu kaksi kuvaa hieman limittäin. Luonnoksesta poiketen toinen kuvani on hieman toista isompi. Muuten pidin sivun melko yksinkertaiseina, jotta kuville jää tilaa. Sivun tarinointi on piilossa sivun takana.

I really liked the sketch of this challenge which had two photos overlapping each others. In my version the other photo is bigger than the other, but I think it works well. I tried to keep the page quite simple so that the photos would be the focal point. The journaling is hidden on the backside of the page.

Skissedilla #220 with step-by-step tutorial and photos

Skissedillan haasteessa oli todella hieno luonnos. Inspiroiduin heti luonnoksen neljän kuvan kollaasista. Minulla oli heti selvä visio sivun aiheesta ja toteutuksesta, joten ajattelin ensimmäistä kertaa ottaa kuvia myös tekovaiheista. Kerrothan mitä tykkäät! Tässä ensin tämä luonnos:

The sketch in Skissedilla was so great! I was instantly inspired by the photo collage. I knew exactly what story I would like to tell and how I would execute the page. So for the first time, I took some photos during the process. Feel free to comment and tell what you think about this step-by-step tutorial! Here is the sketch:

Ensimmäiseksi tein Adobe Photoshop Lightroomilla kuvakollaasin. Tein tällaisen ensimmäistä kertaa, joten se vaati hieman harjoittelua, jotta sain kuvat aseteltua kuten halusin. Kuvat ovat hääjuhlapaikaltamme. Tämän jälkeen kokosin papereita ja tageja, jotka sopivat väreihin. Lähdin kerrostamaan papereita kuvan alle. Viimeiseksi kerrokseksi laiton palan leivinpaperia. Leikkasin leivinpaperiin keskelle aukon, jotta saan kuvan kiinnitettyä tähän kerrostettujen papereiden päälle (teippi tarttuu hieman huonosti leivinpaperiin).

First I made the photo collage using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. This was the first time when I made this kind of collage, so I needed to work with it for a while to get it as I liked. The photos are from our wedding party venue. After that I collected papers and tags that would go with the colors in the photos. I layerd these papers and I put a sheet of baking paper as a final layer to soften the look. I cut a hole to the baking paper so that I could adhere the photo to this layerd stack of paper (adhesive doesn't really work with baking paper).

Taustapaperiksi valitsin valkoisen kartongin. Leikkasin kartonkia hieman pienemmäksi, koska päätin laittaa sen vihreän kuviopaperin päälle. Merkitsin kuvan paikan ja lisäisin hieman vihreää gelatoa merkkien sisäpuolelle. Lähdin levittämään väriä merkkien ulkopuolelle vesivärisiveltimen avulla. Näin väriä tulee vain hieman näkyviin kuvan ja paperikerrosten alta. Koska vesi hieman aiheutti paperiin ryppyjä, laitoin paljon kaksipuolista teippiä paperin toiselle puolelle, jotta kiinnitettäessä kuviopaperiin kartonki suoristuisi.

I chose white cardstock as my background. I cut it a bit smaller as I decided to adhere it to a green pattern paper to create a green border. I marked the place of the photo and added some green gelato inside the marks. Then I started to spread the color outside the marked area with watercolor brush. This way there would be only some light color visible under the photo/layers. As the cardstock buckled a bit, I added lots of double-sided tape to the backside in order to straigthen the paper when adhere to the green paper. 

Kiinnitin kartongin taustaan. Kiinnitin paperikerrokset ja lisäsin päällimmäiseksi kuvan.

I adhered the cardstock to the background paper. I adhered the paper layers and added the photo to the top.

Lisäsin oikeaan alanurkkaan ja vasempaan ylänurkkaan ompeleita tekstuurin lisäämiseksi. Lisäsin myös kerrosten väliin hieman valkoista lankaa. Lisäsin muutaman chipboardin sekä kukan ja badgen (mikä se sitten onkaan suomeksi) koristeeksi. Tässä siis valmis sivu lähikuvineen:

I added some stitching to the corners to add some texture. I also added some thread between the paper layers to soften the look. I added few chipboards, flower and a badge to embellish the page. So here is the final page with some closeups:

Tämä sivu kertoo hääpäivämme pienistä yksityiskohdista. Niistä pienistä asioista, joita ei ehkä vuosikymmenten jälkeen muistaisi. Näin paljon vaivaa, jotta kaikki yksityiskohdat olisivat kauniita tuona tärkeänä päivänä ja halusin tallentaa nämä asiat nyt skräppisivuun asti. Kuvakollaasi sopikin tähän täydellisesti ja minusta tuo näyttää jopa kuvalta jostain sisustuslehdestä! 

The page is about the little details of our wedding day: about all those little things you might not remeber after ten or twenty years. I wanted every little detail to be perfect on our special day so I wanted to document those to this LO. The photo collage worked like a dream to this and I even think that the photo looks like it could be taken from some interior design magazine!
