The story of welfie's

Right now I'm nervous. Yesterday I posted about a change I want to do on this blog: share more stories and be more open. I want that the texts show more of my personality. Let's see if can keep my promise in this first post.

This layout is actually a story about welfie's. As we don't have kids, usually it's either me or my husband in our pictures. Lately I've been pushing my husband to take "welfie's" with me so that we could have pictures of us together. Maybe he thinks we are too grownup for that, but I love it. Maybe I still have a bit of a teenager inside of me. I tried to convince him by saying that "WElfies improve my WEllbeing". And I got the welfie I wanted.

Time for a change

I love to share my layouts here on my blog. However, for some time I have felt that this blog isn't how I would like it to be. I want this blog to be positive, happy, active, full of life and honest. I think that lately I have missed some of the things on that list.

I know the reason too. For me it's not that easy to share stories about my life. In "real life" I only have a handful of people with whom I feel that I can truly be myself. Or maybe the correct way to say this is that there are only some people who see me as who I really am. There's an aspect in my life that I don't want to share with everyone. That part is very visible in my daily life. When a new person looks at me, he/she will see a wheelchair. He/she will see a person that has limitations with mobility. Some of these people will concentrate on that, others can look past that and see who I really am.

I want this blog to be about how I see life. I want to share stories, stories that are behind my pictures and layouts. I want to share a glimpse of my life from my perspective.

This post was supposed to be my first post for 2015. Then I got thinking: why wouldn't I do this change right now? I will still share my layouts. I actually hope that I will share more layouts in the future. I will try to concentrate on telling more about the stories behind the layouts. I will probably stop describing how I built the design of my layouts, but I will try to do more video tutorials to cover that. I will start to share peaks to my craft space. I will try to do posts about daily life by sharing photos. Let's see how this will go, at least I'm going to try.

I hope that from now on you can find more me, more stories and more happiness from this blog. I hope you will see me.

OMG she can drive!!!

Yey, I was able to use a bold black pattern paper and still create a layout that's my style!

Jee, onnistuin tekemään sivun, jossa isossa osassa on musta vahvakuvioinen paperi ja silti sivu näyttää minun tekemältäni!

This layout tells about my cousin.  It's so great to see how she has grown. She got her driver's licence a while ago and I can say it felt so strange to be in a car while she was driving. She was such a good driver, but it was so strange as she has always been so much younger than me and now she can drive herself! And of course, as I'm a scrapbooker I took a picture of that situation!

Sister style

Do you have scrapbooking products that you keep saving because they are so lovely and pretty? The peach chevron paper from Carta Bella has been that kind of product to me. I just love the colors and finally I had the perfect picture to match it with!

This layout is about my cousins. I just love this picture of them (and gladly the colors of their dresses match this paper perfectly)! With gold accents, this is one of my favorite layouts!

Hi there! It's been too long since I made a start to finish scrapbooking video. Finally I had a free weekend and I filmed two videos for you. Today I will show you the first one, hopefully you'll like it!

Moikka!

I made this layout using materials from Gossamer Blue's September kit. I just love those papers and stickers from Crate Paper. This layout tells about a shopping day we had when we visited Philadelphia on our last vacation. Just outside the city there was this huge shopping center. I think it is one of the biggest mall's in the world and I can say it was literally a "shop 'til u drop" kind of day!

Today

Happy Saturday! This week's CSI case file has some neutral colors with a hint of bold red. Let me say, these are not really my colors, but like every week I love how CSI pushes me to try new things!

Mukavaa lauantaita! Tämän viikon CSI-haasteessa on tällä kertaa hyvin maanläheiset värit ripauksella voimakkaan punaista.

I've been using white cardstock as my background quite a lot lately. I wanted to do something else on this layout. I still kept the background very light with that ivory brick wall patterned paper from Chickaniddy Crafts. The chipboards from MME's were perfect addition of red for this layout! The topic of this layout is a reminder to myself: live in this moment and treasure all the memories.

Olen käyttänyt valkoista kartonkia sivujeni taustoina melko paljon viime aikoina.

My kind of guy

My favorite colors together with my favorite guy! Do I need to say more? :)

Paperilla: Little box for Post-It notes

Today is my turn at Paperilla Magazine's blog. I was challeged to make something seasonal. When I think about autumn it just reminds me of returning to work after the summer. One thing that I notice at work that my desk is full of piles of post-it notes. Because I don't have a place to hold all the notes my desk looked quite messy. So I decided to do a small pretty box to hold all my post-it notes!

Palatessani töihin huomasin, että työpöytäni on täynnä post-it -lappuja, suurin osa tyhjiä.

The car

I love pretty photos and girly things. I try to scrapbook about the small, happy details of life. Why on earth I'm creating a layout about a car? For me, this isn't just a car. It's a life-changing thing. A car that I can drive myself from my wheelchair without anyone helping me. This a such a big deal for me so that this needs to be shared.

I chose the yellow, black and white as my main colors. I loved the shape that was on Em's sketch this week and focused on that. Actually, while I'm writing this, I don't know how to explain this layout. Sometimes the topic is just so important that the design and the techniques don't matter to me at all. This layout actually captures perfectly why I scrapbook: I want to remember the feelings and stories.

Valitsin keltaisen, mustan ja valkoisen pääväreikseni. Tykkäsin Em'in luonnoksessa ollesta muodosta ja keskityin siihen.

Hello Darling

This is my fourth layout using Gossamer Blue's August kit. I really get the idea behind kit clubs: it's so fast to work with limited supplies that already coordinate so well together. In these four layouts I have used pretty much just the products from the main kit and I easily made four layouts!

Tämä on jo neljäs sivuni Gossamer Bluen elokuun kitistä. Näiden sivujen tekemisen aikana olen jotenkin tajunnut kit clubien idean: on niin helppoa ja nopeaa tehdä sivuja rajatulla määrällä tavaroita, jotka sopivat väreiltään valmiiksi toisiinsa. Näissä leiskoissa olen käyttänyt oikeastaan pelkästään pääkittiä eikä omaan varastoon ole tarvinnut turvautua!

This layout tells about how on our third wedding anniversary my husband had bought me flowers. I love to have fresh flowers at home and he doesn't get that so it was special that he had the flowers at home when I came from work. He's the best <3

Sunkissed

When I saw this paper in the Gossamer Blue kit I knew that I needed to use this picture. It has the same bokeh sunflair feeling. A real sunkissed picture!

Kun näin tuon paperin Gossamer Bluen kitissä, tiesin, että minun on käytettävä juuri tuota kuvaa. Siinä auringonvalo osuu kameraan luoden samanlaisen efektin kuin tuossa paperissa. Ihana kesäinen kuva!

Helan går

Grid layouts are something I really like but haven't really done. It's over a year since I did my first one and it didn't work out so well. But once I saw this case file and remebered these cute frames from Maggie Holmes I knew that I need to try grid layout again. And I love this!

The frames were the inspiration for me. First I tried to make "a traditional" grid and arrange the frames to a rectangel. It just didn't work as I felt that I need to create some kind of movement to the layout. Then I just started moving the frames around and everything came together. This layout tells about a work event from this August. The journaling is on the backside.

Strawberry fields

Last Sunday I had a pleasure to scrap in wonderful company! Riikka, Terhi and Taru came to visit and we enjoyed scrapping all day long. It was such a perfect day with friends! This is one of the layouts I made on that day. I can't actually believe that I was able to make 6 layouts in a day! I wanted to make layouts with my Gossamer Blue kit. I just love that woodgrain paper!
